Rent Our Space for Your Event!


Are you looking for space to host a meeting, conference, or workshop? The Montana Natural History Center has several great possibilities:

Ellen Knight Classroom: 30-person capacity with tables, 50-person capacity with chairs.

Exhibit Hall: Great for larger gatherings or drop-in events. 100-person standing room capacity; 60-person capacity with chairs.

Naturalist Classroom: 10-person capacity with tables, 15-person capacity with chairs. Currently being used as a dinosaur fossil prep lab and unavailable for rental at this time.

NOTE: Our rental spaces are not available during June, July, and August due to our summer camp programming.


DETAILS:

ELLEN KNIGHT CLASSROOM (50-person capacity with chairs / 30 with tables & chairs)

  • Rates: $250 MNHC members / $300 non-members
  • Rental time slots:
    • Tuesday – Saturday, September – May only
    • 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. OR 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
    • Room rental outside of these time slots is possible, but will be dependent on staff availability and may require additional costs.
  • Rental includes:
    • Ellen Knight Classroom rental for three hours, which includes setup and cleanup time
    • Access to a smart TV, WiFi, kitchenette upon request, in-classroom sink, marker boards, library books, field guides, and family restrooms
    • Admission to the museum for all guests
      • *Adult-to-child ratio should be one adult for every five children. Children may not enter the museum unaccompanied.
      • PLEASE NOTE: Our Ellen Knight Classroom cannot accommodate more than 50 guests with chairs only OR 30 guests with tables & chairs

EXHIBIT HALL (100-person standing room capacity / 60 with chairs)

  • Rates: $600 MNHC members / $700 non-members
  • Rental time slots:
    • Tuesday – Saturday, September – May only
    • 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. OR 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
    • Room rental outside of these time slots is possible, but will be dependent on staff availability and may require additional costs.
  • Rental includes:
    • Exhibit Hall rental for three hours, which includes setup and cleanup time
    • Access to a drop-down screen, projector, audio system, WiFi, kitchenette upon request, library books, field guides, and family restrooms
    • Admission to the museum for all guests
      • *Adult-to-child ratio should be one adult for every five children. Children may not enter the museum unaccompanied.
      • PLEASE NOTE: Our Exhibit Hall cannot accommodate more than 100 guests (standing room only) OR 60 guests with chairs
    • *Usage of classroom(s) can be added to Exhibit Hall rental upon request.

RESERVATION CONDITIONS:

  • Credit card payment is required at the time the reservation is made to hold the room(s). We require a $50 deposit to secure your reservation. Until you pay the deposit the room is not officially reserved. The remainder of the fee may be paid any time prior to the event date or in-person on the day of the rental.
  • Cancellation policy: Fees may be refunded only if cancellation is more than 48 hours in advance of reservation.
  • Party supplies including decorations, food, and beverages may only be used in the classrooms. They are not permitted in the Exhibit Hall.
  • Setup and cleanup time are included in your three-hour time slot. Guests are expected to have all event/party supplies packed and out of the classroom by the end of their reservation, or you will be charged for the additional time.
  • Renter must leave room(s) and equipment in the same condition they were found. Please wipe down tables, vacuum/sweep the floor, and take out the trash. Renter is responsible for any damages.
