Naturalist Field Day

Nancy Seiler nature journal 3

Nature journaling is an essential–and fun!–practice for both budding and experienced naturalists, a way of recording natural history observations both artistically and with words. Nancy Seiler will help you achieve drawing success with numerous tips and exercises. Treat yourself to a day of drawing and observation! Naturalist Sue Reel will provide information on the flora, fauna, and landscape we study.

The major project of the day will be to create an ‘event map’. This documents natural phenomena in a map format as we saunter. This journal art piece can stand along or add illustration to your journal. Our field site location is the beautiful Teller Wildlife Refuge. We will provide transportation in the MNHC bus.

Nancy Seiler is a certified Golden Artist Educator as well as a classical botanical illustrator certified by The Denver Botanic Gardens Botanical Illustration Program. She teaches as a guest artist in Missoula public schools for Spark! Arts Ignite Learning—Any Given Child Initiative. Nancy is also registered with the Montana Arts Council as an Artist Educator.
