Join naturalist, birder, and retired National Bison Range ranger Pat Jamieson on a journey to view and count wetland birds in the Mission valley. Cornell Bird Lab and Audbon’s Great Backyard Bird Count is this weekend. Be part of a global effort to count birds and submit sightings! If you are new to using eBird, Pat will guide you through the process and everyone will work together to submit their sightings. This is a great opportunity to become familiar with an important citizen science tool you can use throughout the year on hikes, walks, or in your own yard!

The Mission Valley is dotted with ponds, abundant wetlands, and a larger reservoir perfect for spotting a diverse array of waterfowl. We will stop at the Ninepipes Museum trail for a flat 1/2 mile walk (also restrooms and coffee!), and a handful of other sites throughout the valley. See new birds or practice your skills with Pat in this gorgeous setting!

NOTE: Heavy snow/blizzard conditions or extremely low temperatures will cancel this program. A refund will be provided if the program is canceled. Please call or text 206-718-7690 if you have questions about the weather.

Instructor: Pat Jamieson is a retired National Bison Range ranger. While there she taught people of all ages about the flora and fauna of the Bison Range. Pat continues to work with the UM, MNHC, and other groups to lead bird programs and tours.
