Have you ever wanted to know how to identify the birds of western Montana by sight and by song? Learn to identify over 25 species of birds commonly found in our grassland, forest, and riparian habitats. The first session is in the classroom, getting down the basics, and the second is in the field, bird watching at Council Grove State Park. Winter is an excellent time to begin learning birds! With fewer to choose from, you are able to quickly get the hang of bird watching and identification skills. Instructor Elena Ulev uses a variety of techniques to help you best learn the art of birding.

Instructor: Elena Ulev is a Master Naturalist, Certified Interpretive Guide, and teacher, providing classes and courses for the Dickinson Lifelong Learning Center and MNHC. With a degree in Wildlife Biology, Elena spent a decade working for the Forest Service as a wildlife, botany, and hydrology technician as well a technical science writer. She is an avid eBirder, birding in her backyard and surrounding area every day and has seen 171 bird species in Missoula County thus far.
