MNHC’s Naturalist Lab is a hands-on room with activities for all ages. Look at butterflies, rocks, skulls, and tracks. Use a microscope. Sketch or journal your observations. And so much more!
What can I do in the Naturalist Lab?
- Make a leaf rubbing.
- Compare fur from different specimens.
- Learn about bird adaptations, and examine nests, feathers, and eggs.
- Become a skull detective and discover exciting facts about different kinds of animal skulls.
- Delve into geology and identify igneous rocks.
- Examine beetles, butterflies, and other insects!
- Sketch a wolf skull, or a mourning cloak butterfly, or a Hooded Merganser.
