DESCRIPTION:The miniNaturalist pre-K program encourages curiosity for the natural world.\nDates: Every Monday\, September – May\nTime: 10:00-11:00 am\nLocation: Montana Natural History Center\, 120 Hickory Street. \nThe miniNaturalist program encourages curiosity for the natural world through exploration and play. We sing songs\, read books\, play games\, and develop skills with art and science tools. Each program begins with songs\, movement\, and stories. We then provide materials for learner directed discovery in our garden. We look for bugs and birds\, color on rocks\, build with branches\, experiment with science tools and play with a variety of art materials. \nPlease bring clothes for outdoor play! We have some snow clothes to borrow. \nBest for ages 2-4\, though any age is welcome! \nCost: FREE!

DESCRIPTION:Date: Tuesday\, April 29th\nTime: 4:00-6:00 p.m.\nLocation: Montana Natural History Center\nCost: FREE\, but registration is appreciated. \nMNHC is excited to host Open Air Artist Amanda Baker! Amanda will be in residence at MNHC starting in early April until early May. \nAmanda Baker (b.1994) is a Brooklyn-based interdisciplinary artist and educator. She received an MFA in printmaking from Pratt Institute in 2024\, and a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2016. Her work investigates 19th-century naturalist illustration through a contemporary print-based lens. Amanda has been a former artist in residence at COPE NYC\, has curated and shown work in numerous group exhibitions\, and was a 2023 Pratt Graduate Student Engagement Fund recipient. She also participates in various NYC-based bird and wildlife conservation advocacy groups and teaches community printmaking workshops. \nARTIST PRESENTATION\nJoin Amanda at MNHC for a presentation on Tuesday\, April 29th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. This presentation is followed by refreshments and is a chance to mingle and meet the artist. We’ll have some supplies available (colored pencils\, micron pens\, watercolor pencils\, etc.)\, as well as field guides and specimens\, and we’ll provide a fun journal prompt\, too! DESCRIPTION:Dates: Sundays\, starting April 27-July 13\n(There is no volunteering on the dates June 1\, June 22\, and July 6th)\nTime: 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.\nLocation: Fort Missoula Native Plant Garden \nThe beautiful Native Plant Garden at Fort Missoula could use volunteers to weed\, transplant plants out of the walkways and prune shrubs. Volunteering is available every Sunday morning from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and you can pop in and out any time during that period. We will supply the gloves and tools but if you have your own feel free to bring them. In addition to working\, you can learn about the plants\, birds and ecology of the garden from Elena Ulev\, the Garden Manager. \nDIG IN!
