Sip and Sketch: LIVE Hawk Gesture Drawing
April 29 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm$30 – $35
DATE: Wednesday, April 29
TIME: 7:00-9:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Montana Natural History Center
Grinnell, a beautiful red-tailed hawk, will be our special live model for this Sip and Sketch evening. She will be accompanied by her handler and falconer Everett Headley.
We will get started with an introduction to gesture drawing with our resident artist and naturalist Jenah Mead. Gesture drawing captures poses, movement, and shape with quick sketches. After a bit of practice Grinnell will arrive to model for additional sketches and a longer study. We will be working in graphite and pen to both improve our skills and create a beautiful art piece.
All materials, two glasses of wine, beer, or soda, and light refreshments are included in the program. So sit back, sip a beverage, and draw!
Jenah Mead is an artist, naturalist, and educator out of Missoula, Montana who specializes in wildlife illustrations and has taught science and nature education for over a decade. She holds a B.S. in Wildlife Biology and an M.S. in Environmental Studies. Jenah combines the study of nature and art to create detailed graphite illustrations of local flora and fauna.
