Sip and Sketch: Feather Zentangle with Kate Crouch
February 12 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm$25 – $30
Create a beautiful work of art in a meditative style with artist, educator, and yogi Kate Crouch.
Zentangling is a calming art method in which abstract repetitive patterns flow organically within a shape. Tonight we will be using the outline of a feather and filling the inside with intuitive simple patterns. Shading and watercolor will provide color and dimension to the piece. Kate will guide you through the process.
A wide variety of feathers from turkey to pheasant to owl and more will be available for study to inspire your feather outline. We will also have pre-drawn outlines available for those who want to get right into the zentangling method. Naturalist Jenah Mead will discuss the different parts of a feather and their use. Learn about the semi-plume, barbs, and quill and inspect the feathers up close with a microscope.
Kate has been teaching nature-based studies, art, yoga, and mindfulness for children and adults since 2002. She started her own Mindful Art Education business Mind Your Self in 2017. Her passion is encouraging students in the discovery of unity between themselves and the natural world. Kate has a Master’s degree in Arts Integration from the University of Montana, and has led educational programs for ZACC, SPARK Arts, the Montana Natural History Center.
Relax, sip a beverage, and chat with friends as you zentangle a feather!
