Saunter with a Naturalist in the Evening

June 15, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

$5 – $10

Date: June 15
Time:  5:00 p.m. – 7:00 pm.
If you prefer a morning saunter, join us on June 17, learn more here.

June Location: Kim Williams Trail (Meet at the south end of the Van Buren Street Pedestrian Bridge, by the parking lot on the UM campus closest to Jacob’s Island.)
Location will vary month to month (in the Missoula Valley)

The Kim Williams Trail wanders through the riparian zone of the Clark Fork River. Composed of a variety of flowering shrubs like chokecherry and Lewis’ mock orange and trees like black cottonwood and quaking aspen, the riparian area is excellent habitat for butterflies, like Lorquin’s admirals, for birds, like Yellow Warblers, Bullock’s Orioles, and Eastern Kingbirds, and for mammals like white-tailed deer and red squirrels.

Bring your curiosity and your own naturalist knowledge and join MNHC Naturalist Ser Anderson on a naturalist saunter. We will focus on exploring the changing seasons, making observations, following our curiosity, and learning from each other. Whether you are an experienced naturalist or just starting out, this walk is for you. Everyone has something to learn and knowledge to share.

What to bring:
  • Masks are optional, but we will continue to practice social distancing as much as possible.
  • Your favorite naturalist tools
    • binoculars, magnifying glasses, field guides, journals, etc..  We will have some binoculars, magnifying glasses and collection containers available to borrow as well.
