Plants in the Park with Peter Lesica

Location: Meet at the Greenough Park parking area

Greenough Park along Rattlesnake Creek is one of Missoula’s crown jewels. Spend the morning with botanist Peter Lesica learning about the flowers, trees and shrubs and their ecology found in this accessible riparian area.  Greenough has a lovely variety of plants to behold in late spring; some of them rare in Montana.

We will wander through the park abiding by social distancing recommendations. Peter will point out flowers and trees we can each inspect on our own.

This class is perfect for anyone interested in strengthening their identification skills or with an interest in learning more about our local plants and their habitats.

What to Bring:

  • Water, snacks
  • Clothing appropriate for changing weather conditions including hat, sunscreen, raincoat, ect.
  • Good walking shoes or boots
  • Journal and writing tool
  • Loupe (Optional)
  • Camera (Optional)
  • Face Mask (Recommended)

Peter Lesica is the author of Manual of Montana Vascular Plants and Wildflowers of Glacier National Park.
