Journal by Alex Kuennen
Nature journaling is a wonderful way to slow down and observe the beautiful details of the natural world around you. Using a variety of techniques including sketching, drawing, painting, reflective writing, and inquiry can engender meditative contemplation and connection with our local landscapes and creatures.
Over four Saturday sessions, you will get to spend focused time learning and practicing the initial skills of nature journaling. The Nature Journaling club will be held indoors and out depending on the weather and the topic. Your hosts Michele and Maja will guide you through various exercises and discussions as you explore materials and techniques.
Class 1: Getting Started (materials, page composition/layout, strategies for approaching journaling)
Class 2: Overcoming Fear (practice, how to draw)
Class 3: Making It Fun (writing, observation, reflection)
Class 4: Keep Going (developing a practice, adding research, science)
Club Hosts: Michele Esser and Maja Holmquist are both certified Master Naturalists and our spring season Adult Program Interns.
What to Bring:
- an unlined journal if you have one already (we will talk about materials in the first class)
