Naturalist Field Day: Birding Adventure!

September 7 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

$70 – $80
a group of adults birding in the woods for the Master Naturalist course

Location: Meet at MNHC (we’ll travel to the field site on our bus)

Time: 9:00 a.m.

Enjoy an insightful day birding with Sneed B. Collard III, author of Warblers and Woodpeckers: a Father-Son Big Year of Birding, and his teenaged son, Hellgate High School junior Braden Collard. Sneed and Braden will share bird identification tips and tricks as well as stories from their birding adventures. Our field destination will be dependent on which birds are where, but waterfowl habitat is a good bet. It’ll be a great day of practicing – and honing – your birding skills with these fantastic guides.

Sneed B. Collard has written more than 65 books for young people and in 2006 he received the Washington Post/Children’s Book Guild Award, presented annually to “an author or illustrator whose total body of work has contributed significantly to the quality of nonfiction for children.”  In 2006, he also received the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) award for his science book The Prairie Builders: Reconstructing America’s Lost Grasslands.
