Take to the field looking for mushrooms with the Western Montana Mycological Association and then learn how to draw them with graphic designer and illustrator Cooper Malin.
This class combines the joy of discovery with the pleasure of art. Look for conks or ephemeral delicate gilled mushrooms among the trees. WMAA will identify your finds, providing mycological information and insight. Cooper will guide your sketches and drawings of the mushrooms with thoughtful tips and techniques. Everything will be provided for you to make beautiful art outside!
Instructor: Cooper Malin is a designer and illustrator currently working towards a degree in Wildlife Biology. He lives in rural Montana and much of his inspiration comes from these natural surroundings. I balance my career in illustration with summer field work in biology. He is particularly interested in plants and has had opportunities to study and collect them across much of the West. Cooper has several reoccurring weekly comic strips in newspapers and his botanical illustrations are used by florists and farmers alike. With every opportunity he strives to create illustrations that are alive with a story all their own.
