Missoula Rocks: The History & Geology of Downtown Missoula

Bruce Baty, geologist and educator, and Kristjana Eyjolfsson, education director at the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula, will lead you on this fascinating downtown tour. We will visit select iconic buildings, learning about both their geologic and cultural history. Bruce will identify the various rocks used in their construction and the stories they tell about Montana’s geology. Kristjana will tell captivating tales of the human history embedded in the buildings’ architecture and past use. Gain a fun, fresh perspective on downtown Missoula on this unique walking tour!

What to Bring:

  • good walking shoes

There will be limited bathroom opportunities and up to 2 hours of standing/walking.

 Cost: $20 MNHC members / $25 non-members
