Knowing the Plants is part of our summer “Introduction to Nature” series. Take one or take them all!
Learn how to see the patterns in local native plants with biology and botany instructor Greg Peters. By looking at characteristics shared among groups, or families, of plants you will be able to identify many of the plants and flowers you see this summer. During this introductory/refresher course, Greg will discuss tips and techniques for plant identification, share botanical stories, and guide detailed observation. The Native Plant Garden at Fort Missoula is an oasis of native plants, birds, and animals close to the Bitterroot River.
Instructor: Greg Peters is an Assistant Professor of Natural Sciences Missoula College. He is a trained botanist educator. Greg has also taught the Montana Master Naturalist Course for the Glacier Institute and many classes for the Montana Natural History Center. As one student wrote: “Greg is the man. He wants you to learn, to be excited about the material, to ask questions, and to share your knowledge and experience. I took one of his classes because it was a requirement. I took two others because he taught them.”
