Insect Investigation is part of our summer “Introduction to Nature” series. Take one or take them all!
Find and identify insects with expert insect guru Glenn Marangelo of the Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium. During this introductory/refresher class you will learn about insect biology and natural history as you catch and release a variety of insects from beetles to butterflies. Glenn will point out interesting features and identification tips so you can recognize these bugs throughout your summer wanderings. The Rock Creek Confluence property is a beautiful piece of land with forest, riparian, and grassland habitats. Get out of Missoula for a morning of insect awe and wonder.
Instructor: In 2009 Glenn helped found the Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium, and in mid-2016 became the organization’s first Development Director. In addition to fundraising, Glenn makes insect-filled visits on Montana Public Radio’s Pea Green Boat, contributes to the Insectarium’s What’s Buzzin’ reports, writes their Bug Bytes podcast, and loves to “talk bugs.” In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, fishing, hunting, birding…and, of course, observing and learning about insects.
