Getting to Know Flowers: Three-Part Virtual Series for Kids
May 27 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 11:00 am on Wednesday, repeating until May 27, 2020
Please join us for a three-part series on getting to know flowers! This class is geared to students in 3rd-6th grade and will meet via Zoom at 11am on Wednesdays (May 13, 20, 27) for interactive, one-hour lessons. Students will learn to identify flower anatomy, flower families, and specific flowers. Each week, students will be given assignments to hone their naturalist skills as they learn to identify flowers in their area and bring this knowledge to each class.
All students will receive digital versions of all printable materials.
Missoula-area residents are encouraged to choose the class option that includes the Field Kit*. Field kits can be picked up or dropped off to families within 5 miles of the Montana Natural History Center.
Each live Zoom lesson will be recorded and made available to students to view again at a later time. Parents are responsible for ensuring student video cameras and microphones are turned on/off and indicating their permissions for recording their child(ren).
Our staff is working hard to provide online content during this time and ask that you consider making an additional donation. We recognize that this is a difficult time for many in our community and suggest $15 for each additional child, though all donations are very much appreciated.
*Field kits will include the loan of one field microscope, one magnifying glass, one ruler, one clipboard, dirt, seeds, and printed versions of class worksheets. All equipment will be sanitized prior to drop-off and after pick-up. Participants will be responsible for the cost of any lost or damaged equipment.
Cost: (must choose one of the first two)
- $50 (Includes Field Kit – Missoula area only)
- $30 (Online materials, no kit included)
