Karolo Aparicio, executive director of EcoViva, will present “Conserving Mangrove Forests, Protecting Sea Turtle Habitat, and Sustaining Agriculture in El Salvador: A Success Story.”
In the aftermath of a brutal civil war in El Salvador, EcoViva, a US-based NGO, has been working with local communities in El Salvador and Honduras on issues of environmental and agricultural sustainability with a focus on the Rio Lempa watershed. The Rio Lempa and adjoining Bay of Jiquilisco contain some of the largest mangrove forests in Central America. Karolo will discuss the successes and challenges in this part of the world.
