Community Discovery Day Hike: Kootenai Creek Trail
October 13, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pmFree
Join Master Naturalists Micki Long and Vic Mortimer for a lovely hike on the Kootenai Creek trail in the Bitterroot near Stevensville. Enjoy the soft sounds of the creek as you hike through the forest. Though the trip’s focus is on hiking, Micki and Vic will talk about the trees, refugia species and birds seen along the way. In this moist canyon you can find beautiful forest, ferns, mossy slopes and perhaps early fall fungi.
This hike is moderate/strenuous with the trip totaling 7-8 miles round trip and some elevation gain.
Meet at the trailhead at 9:00 a.m. Return to the trailhead around 2:00 p.m.
Bring: lunch, water, study hiking shoes, clothes appropriate for changing Montana weather condition, snacks.
Directions to the trailhead: From Stevensville take the Stevi cut-off road to Highway 93. Travel north 3/4 of a mile and turn west (left) onto Kootenai Creek Rd. Travel approximately 2 miles to the end and the trailhead.
RSVP required. Please email Micki: firstname.lastname@example.org
