Blooming Big Day!

June 10, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Early summer is a wonderful time to hike among the flowers. During this fun competition you will count each different species you see in a Blooming Big Day. Modeled after the Birding Big Day where teams of birders count as many species as they can in 24 hours, this event is for flower-focused folks. (And for those who don’t want to stay up all night!)

  • Choose a trail, any trail. It could be the Kim Williams, Mt. Jumbo, St. Mary’s, wherever you like.
  • Take a photo of every different kind of flower you find as you walk or hike.
  • Stop by the Montana Natural History Center before 4:00 p.m. with your total.
  • All totals will be recorded–and if you found the most flowers, you will win a prize! Plus, everyone who comes in with a total gets free admission and a refreshing soda.

We’re excited to see how many flowers you can find! Ready, set, GO!
