4. MNHC Donation

MNHC is grateful for the strong support of the Missoula community. We accept donations in any amount, whether you're a student purchasing a membership or a community member who wants to give above and beyond the membership fee. Your donation goes to supporting our organization and our programs that get children and adults out into nature. Thank you for your generosity!

What will your donation support? Here is a list of accomplishments from 2010/2011:

• Reached 60 classrooms with the Visiting Naturalist in the Schools Program for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.
• Started a new miniNaturalist program for pre-schoolers.
• Completed renovation of an historic structure at Fort Missoula, creating an indoor classroom at our Native Plant Gardens.
• Continued expanding our Nature After-School Program with new sponsors.
• Completed a color catalogue to increase use of our Nature Discovery Traveling Trunks used by teachers and students statewide.
• Continued our partnership with USFS in the Forest For Every Classroom Program, training Montana teachers in place-based education.
• Continued to teach 4 classes annually of our Montana Master Naturalist Course, and expanded use of our course with partners in Billings and other Montana communities.
• Sold a surplus portion of our building to Five Valleys Land Trust, who are remodeling it for their future headquarters. We are also working to upgrade our exterior to match the FVLT remodel and to obtain better energy efficiency.

5. Byron Weber Scholarship Fund

Regrettably, not all parents can afford to send their kids to MNHC’s summer camps. Similarly, some schools systems cannot afford to pay to have MNHC’s Visiting Naturalist program in their school. Having a connection to nature isn’t something that should be restricted by financial resources. We have created this scholarship in honor of Byron Weber, a great friend of MNHC, who was an educator and a leader in our community in bringing natural history to kids. We are asking our supporters to donate funds so that we can bring our summer camps and VNS program to a broader cross-section of children in western Montana. Thanks for your support!
