Montana Master Naturalist Annual Statewide Meeting
April 5 @ 2:00 pm - April 6 @ 5:00 pmFree
Location: Montana WILD Education Center, Helena, MT
The Montana Master Naturalist Certification Program can expand your organization’s educational impact while building and training a cohort of volunteers. The program is designed for adults who want to stoke their curiosity and deepen their knowledge of the natural world. Participants gain skills to interpret Montana’s flora, fauna, and landscape. Based on the region of study, participants will explore wildlife, plants, geology, climate, and more. After engaging in at least 40 hours of instruction and coursework, participants can elect to become certified Montana Master Naturalists. Certification can be maintained annually through volunteerism and continued education. At this meeting, you’ll explore the curriculum and learn more about the Montana Master Naturalist Certification program and how to host a course in your community.
Thursday, April 5th 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
Informational Session–ideal for new sites!
For groups interested in exploring the program and want to learn more. Join us to get an overview of the certification program, the curriculum, program requirements and how to get started in your community. We will discuss the benefits of offering a Montana Master Naturalist Certification program in your organization and the typical program costs.
Friday, April 6th, 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Training for Host Sites and Interested New Sites
All Montana Master Naturalist host sites are invited to participate in a morning of program training and a review of certification requirements. We’ll discuss how different regions have adapted the curriculum to their ecosystems, how different programs are structured and identify areas where the Montana Natural History Center can support ongoing certification courses and naturalists who want to continue their certification.
Participants can opt to attend both days. New or potential Master Naturalist program providers are strongly encouraged to attend both sessions. Current Master Naturalist program providers do not need to attend the Thursday afternoon session.
