Members Only Discovery Day: Ethnobotany

July 14 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free
White yarrow in flower.
Members-Only Discovery Day

Learn how a variety of our common native plants have been used historically and are used currently as medicines, food, and materials. Native Plant Garden Manager Sarah Lederle will take you on a tour of the Fort Missoula Native Plant Garden to identify the plants and discuss their properties. Feel the numbing qualities of yarrow root, learn how to make salve from the resin in cottonwood buds, and discover some new uses for ponderosa pine needles.

We will have cool sodas to sip while we learn in the heat!

You can meet us at the Fort Missoula Native Plant Garden or meet at the Montana Natural History Center and take our bus to the Fort.

Physical activity level: easy

Ages 10 and up.

RSVP is required. Please RSVP to Christine at cmorris [at] montananaturalist [dot] org. Please indicate where you will be meeting (at the Fort or at MNHC to take the bus).
