Naturalist Field Weekend

download (2)Participate at a real dinosaur dig site at the Two Medicine Dinosaur Center in Bynum!

Learn about the geology of the area, how to ID dinosaur bones, and how to find fossils. Get involved with digging, making plaster jackets, and closing the sites for fall.

We will camp each night at the Two Medicine Dinosaur Center. Relax after a good day digging fossils with an outdoor dinner. Breakfasts and sack lunches are also provided.

We’ll meet at MNHC and travel to and from Bynum in the MNHC bus.

Date: September 16-18

We will leave at 3:00 pm on Friday and return by 7:00 pm on Sunday.

Price: $300; MNHC members $280.

Transportation to the Two Medicine Dinosaur Center will provided by MNHC bus. Dinners on Friday and Saturday, breakfasts Saturday and Sunday, and lunches Saturday and Sunday are included.

What to Bring:

  • Clothes appropriate for the weather: good walking shoes or boots, long pants, wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, rain jacket/pants, warm and cool layers, camp shoes, sleeping attire.
  • Sunscreen.
  • Tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, toiletries.
  • Snacks.
  • Water bottle.
  • Journal, writing implements, and camera are optional.
