Community activities offer engaging, entertaining and educational opportunities for all ages to get outside and learn about the natural world. Whether you choose Saturday Discovery Days–featuring workshops and field trips that take you outside to explore the natural history of Missoula and the surrounding areas–or our Evening Lecture Series–presenting a range of topics from porcupines to mountain lions, mushrooms to whales–you’ll be rewarded with a quality learning experience, guided by local scientists and naturalists.
If you are interested in getting your hands dirty, step outside with the Missoula Restoration Volunteers to help restore native grasslands while learning about these vital plant communities. Or perhaps you are hungry for a more in-depth knowledge of nature; if so, the Montana Master Naturalist Class will help you develop the skills and tools to become a master naturalist. In this course you will explore natural areas and learn the natural history of Montana’s flora and fauna from local experts. MNHC also coordinates with Road Scholar programs for adults 55+. These are week-long programs open to seniors across the nation.
Whatever your preference, you are bound to find an activity that will inspire you to get out and get involved with nature!
